Maoist attack: 50 killed in Dantewada

Maoists killed 50 people by blasting a landmine near Dantewada in Chattisgarh. 30 ordinary people and 20 special police officers killed in the attack. All the people travelling in that private bus were dead.

This is the biggest attack by Maoists after killing 76 CRPF people in April. Locations of both incidents are 50 kms apart in Chattisgarh.

Bus is travelling from Dantewada to Sukma. Bus was blownup by Maoists by blasting a powerful landmine near Chingawaram which is 40 kms from Dantewada and 80 kms from Andhra Border and also very near to Orissa border. Special police officers are on recruitment drive in Sikma and incident occured near Doleras.

Significance of attack:

1. Police, leaders and CRPF generally travel in buses in tribal areas to escape from Maoist attacks as they generally do not kill civilians. Now, Maoists want to kill anyone to instill confidence in their cadres. Now, police need to change their strategy.

2. Maoists have unbelievable intelligence network in those areas. It will become further difficult to get intelligence from people in those areas as this incidence may trigger fear psychosis among ordinary people.
