Indian cricket legend Tiger Pataudi passed away at Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi. He has been suffering from lung infection for last 30 days. According to hospital sources, he died of interstitial lung disease. Tiger Played in 46 Test matches and scored 2793 runs. According to cricket experts, he is the best captain in Indian cricket history. Just like Sourav Ganguly and M.S. Dhoni, he changed the mindset of Indian cricketers. Tiger Pataudi led India to achieve first Test victory outside India. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi was born in Bhopal in 1941. Pataudi married famous Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore. Earthquake across North India
An Earthquake measuring 6.8 on Richter scale with epicentre near Sikkim-Nepal border hit North-India. Tremors are reported from Gangtok, Khatmandu, Patna, Kolkata, Dhaka, Ranchi, Lucknow and Delhi. Major tremors were felt in Sikkim and North Bihar. One person died due to stampede. Damage to properties occured in Sikkim and North Bihar. After shocks are felt at 7 PM in Sikkim only. Time of earthquake: 6:10 PM. Magnitude of earthquake: 6.8. Depth of earthquake: 20 km Alert level: Orange. Epicentre of earthquake: Sikkim-Nepal border (64 kms from Gangtok). Train accident near Arakkonam: 7 dead
Chennai-Katpadi EMU rammed into the stationary Arakkonam-Vellore passenger train at Chitari station near Arakkonam at 9:30 PM. According to initial reports, this accident occured due to human error as engine driver jumped the signal while some reports are mentioning signal error. At the time of accident, rear bogies of the Passenger train are overcrowded as it is the penultimate passenger train from Arakkonam to Vellore. According to official reports, 7 people died in the accident and more than 80 people injured. Injured passengers are admitted to Arakkonam and Vellore hospitals. Outbound services from Chennai to Coimbatore, Ernakulam and Salem are disrupted due to the accident. 3 bogies of the passenger train are derailed due to the collision. Rescue operations are hampered due to heavy rains at the site of accident. Railway minister announced Rs. 5 lakh compensation for the families of dead. Terror attack: 3 serial blasts in Mumbai
3 serial explosions are reported from Dadar and Zaveri Bazar areas in Mumbai at around 7 PM. 17 people died and 130 people injured in Mumbai blasts. Terrorists used Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in the blasts. They planted bombs inside a car and motorcycle. Central Mumbai: Dadar Blasts occured near Prasad Chamber & Opera House. South Mumbai: Blast occured near Zaveri Bazar. M.F. Hussain passes away
Famous painter M.F. Hussain paases away in London this morning. 95-year old Maqbool Fida Hussain admitted to Royal Brompton hospital in London and dies of heart attack at 2:30 AM on Thursday. Hussain is arugably the most popular Indian artist but is now a Qatar citizen. This controversial artist faced severe criticism from Hindus for his controversial paintaings on famous Hindu Goddesses like Saraswati. Nickname of M.F. Hussain: Picasso of India M.F. Hussain was born on September 17, 1915 in Pandharpur, Maharashtra. This small town boy became the highest paid painter in India.
