Bomb blasts near Indian Embassy in kabul

Suicide bomb rocked the Afghan capital of Kabul on Thursday 8th October 2009 morning. The blast that could be heard across a considerable distance took place near the Indian Embassy and NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) headquarters, despite the area being heavily fortified and secured against attacks. So far, four people have been reported to be killed and several more injured. Also, a number of vehicles were blown to bits. With the presidential elections of the country only five days away, the blast makes clear the intent of the Talibans to disrupt the procedure. The Talibans have admitted to have caused the blast. Indian ambassador to Afghanistan, Jayant Prasad, categorizes this blast as an IED attack. He assures that there was no Indian among the ones killed in the blast. However, there are some Indians, the exact number not yet disclosed, among the ones injured. He further added that this blast reminded him of the one that had taken place in Kabul on 7th July 2008. Boat mishap in Kerala: 33 people were feared killed as a boat capsized in Thekkady lake, the famous tourist place in Kerala. Help line numbers: 0471-2333198, 0486-922620, 0486-9222111, 9446052361, 9447979092 and 9446052361 The reason of mishap: Tourists might have been rushed to one side of the boat to see wild animals on the shore. Massive rescue efforts underway at the site where Kerala State Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) boat sank carrying tourists drowned. 33 bodies have been recovered from the spot and 13 tourists were rescued. 55 ft depth at the spot in river of mishap. The boat Jalakanyaka owned by KTDC drowned when a boat carrying 76 tourists sank in Mullaperiyar river in Kerala. Poor light and heavy rain are main obstacles for rescue operations. The boat sank at about 5.15 p.m. It was carrying a group of tourists from various states mostly from Karnataka, Andhra besides a few foreign tourists. Majority of dead are women and children. The Kerala government has asked the assistance of naval divers for search and rescue operations. Around 40 divers from the Southern Naval Command here have left for Thekkady. Chief Minister V. S.
