They also killed three top police officers (ATS chief Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar and DIG Ashok Kamte) near CAMA hospital. 9 terrorists killed by police and commandos while Kasab was caught alive.  Kasab was captured live during Mumbai attacks by ASI Tukaram Omble of D B Marg police station  at Girgaon Chowpatty at around 12:30 AM on November 27. 48-year old Omble died in that incident but helped to capture a terrorist alive for the first time in indian history.  Government awarded Ashoka Chakra (highest peacetime gallantry award) to Tukaram Omble for capturing Kasab.
