Mathura train accident: Goa express rammed into Mewar express

It is feared that at least 15 people were killed and 50 others injured when the Goa Express rammed into the Mewar Express which was stationery near Mathura this Wednesday morning. The Goa Express was heading towards Delhi and the accident took place between Mathura and Brindavan stations at an outer signal just 55 kms from New Delhi.

An unreserved compartment of the Mewar Express suffered damage and many passengers are feared to be trapped in the damaged bogey. Gas cutters are being used to free them and rescue operations are carried out by the army jawans.

Tamil Nadu Dilwali cracker godown blast: 32 killed

The death toll in the cracker godown fire mounted to 32 and several injured with two more bodies were pulled out of the building. Besides, ten others were injured when the fire swept through the cracker godown here, 90km from Chennai, in Palipattu village in Thiruvallur district last night.

The cracker shop was functioning out of a godown located behind a rice mill and on the eve of Diwali many people were there buying crackers.

Two fire tenders doused the fire. The Pallipattu police are investigating. The sources said the death toll could be much higher and majority of the victims are believed to be from Andhra Pradesh which is very close by.

2011 Cricket world cup match venues

World Cup 2011:

The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup will be host by three South Asian Test cricket playing countries; India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The World Cup will take place during the months of February and March 2011, with the first match being played on 19 February 2011.

Match distribution in India:

The 2011 competition will consist of 49 games with 16 teams will be divided in two groups. India will host 29 of the tournament's 49 matches across eight venues. Sri Lanka will host 12 games across three venues and Bangladesh eight at two venues.


The Local Organising Committee met in Mumbai on 14th October to finalise the venue-based distribution of the 29 games that India is scheduled to host. Mumbai will host final, along with two other matches, while Mohali will host one of the semi-finals of the 2011 Cricket World Cup. The committee decided to give two other matches to Mohali apart from the semi-final.

Ahmedabad will host a quarter-final and two other games, while Kolkata and Delhi will host one India and three other matches each.

Jaipur has been left out of the list of venues with Nagpur, Chennai and Bangalore getting one India game each.
